My number-one favorite hobby is reading. I love to curl up with a good book and escape. As a child, I would lose myself in a book for hours at a time, sometimes unable even to hear someone calling my name. If the book is good, I still do that today.
I can finish a good book in a week or ten days, so I’m always up for suggestions of books to read! I love books in series, because I don’t have to think about what I’ll read when I finish one of the books. Leave a note in the comments and let me know what you’ve read recently!
Here are some of my favorites. I’ll admit that most of them are chick-books. That could very well be because I AM a chick.

Love Comes Softly, a Christian love story series set in the mid 1800’s.

Lamb, a slightly irreverent, fictional account of Christ’s childhood. Funniest if you know a good bit of Scripture.

Case for a Creator, a detailed description of the author’s search for truth regarding man’s origins.

Case for Christ, a clear, journalistic search for truth.

Left Behind Series, an easy read, and a very interesting topic

Power of a Praying Wife, a very powerful way to connect with my husband through prayer

Mark of the Lion Series, a series that will grip you and not let you go!

Harry Potter Series, they’re just really good books.
- Miss Julia Series, a lighthearted, laugh-out-loud series, especially if you’re from the South.
- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Trilogy, a really intense, keep-you-up-at-night series.
- The Hunger Games Trilogy, another keep-you-up-at-night trilogy

Damsel and Family 
I love love love “The Time Traveler’s Wife” by Audrey Niffenegger. It’s a great love story and I found it to be a real page turner, one I love to read over and over. It’s a chick book really, but my husband enjoyed it too, go figure.
Also The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, if you haven’t already read it, is another great chick book.
Anything by Karen Kingsbury, but especially the Redemption, First Born, and Sunrise Serieses about the Baxters. They are WONDERFUL!! 🙂 Just thought I’d share.

@Christi – I love Karen Kingsbury, too. I think I’ve read some of those! My biggest problem is that I can’t always remember titles/authors. I remember characters and story lines… so I’ve been known to check out a book from the library by an author I know I like, only to dive in and wonder why it’s SO familiar!! 😛
i have recently started reading “CASE FOR FAITH” and am really enjoying it. written by the same atheist-turned Christian as the other CASE FOR . . . books – Lee Strobel confronts seeminly undermining questions and challenges to having faith in a loving and God who is omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent.

very controversial and ‘in your face’ as she is known to be. she does not pull any punches. i do not agree on all of her points – but it is important to remember that there is only ONE book written by a PERFECT author! she makes very good points that have done well to calm my pride in areas i didn’t even see it poking up. this book has helped me as a parent, wife, and most of all a God-honoring woman
Found you because you tipped off Mir to free food at Chipotle. Sigh, Nearest one to me, Atlanta…But I homeschool anyways, so although I teach my children everyday, I would not qualify for said promotion.
I wanted to drop you a line not about great big burritos though (i want one so badly…we just moved and they are not here…Moe’s is NOT the same), but to let you know I read through your posts and your faith encouraged me. and I in turn wanted to encourage you. =) Keep plugging away. God is big, he does provide, every time. It is in those very places that are so difficult that God shaved and sands the rough edges off of our character and we are polished and refined to be a better reflector of him. Sounds like you are well on your way. =)

And I have wore the corners slap off of my copies of the Voice in the Wind trilogy. LURVE it!!!
I have to second Lamb – it is very witty but you have to know a good deal of Scripture in order to get some of the jokes. I love HP also!
